Enjoy a weekday afternoon with young musicians selected through auditions. Appearing for the 80th installment of our midday piano program is Shizuka Yamaguchi. She has prepared a piece with "bells" as its motif, and we invite you to enjoy a program titled "Guided by the Sound of Bells." What kind of "bell" sounds will we hear from a single piano?

Shizuka Yamaguchi

Profile

She graduated from the Department of Music, Faculty of Music, Toho Gakuen University, and completed her Master's degree in Music at the Graduate School of Music, Toho Gakuen University. During her studies, she diligently pursued research and performance, primarily focusing on the works of G. Fauré. In 2018, she won the Grand Prize and the Kazuko Hagiwara Prize at the 34th JPTA Piano Audition, Division D. In 2020, she won second prize at the 22nd Japan Performer Competition, University Division, and second prize and the G. Henle Urtext Prize at the Salzburg-Mozart International Chamber Music Competition in Tokyo. Currently, she serves as a commissioned performer (piano accompaniment) for the Wind Instruments, Percussion, and Harp Section at the Toho Gakuen University Faculty of Music, and is active mainly in the fields of chamber music and accompaniment. She studied under Mikako Abe.
