In December 1957, he made his debut under the name Bando Kinoji in the play Terakoya at the Toyoko Hall. In June 12, he was adopted by Morita Kan'ya XIV, and took on the stage name Bando Tamasaburo V in the plays Shinju Yaha wa Koori no Sakubi at the Kabukiza Theater, including Otama. He was also keen to stage the aesthetic world of Izumi Kyoka, and has created many excellent plays, including his representative work Tenshu Monogatari. He has also had a great influence on artists around the world, beyond the boundaries of Kabuki, and has been praised for his performance in Sagi Musume, which he was invited to perform at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York at a young age and received rave reviews. He has collaborated with many world-class artists, including Andrzej Wajda, Daniel Schmidt, and Yo-Yo Ma, and has been active internationally. As a film director, he creates unique visual beauty.
