[Ota Cultural Forest Hall Building Renewal Commemoration]
We will bring you the much-talked-about ghost stories of Lafcadio Hearn that will be featured in a morning TV drama starting in the fall of 2025.
The first part will feature works by Lafcadio Hearn, and the second part will feature classic ghost stories. Enjoy the 500-year-old traditional Japanese storytelling art of "kodan" and the performance of the traditional Japanese instrument, the "satsuma biwa."
Cool down during the hot summer with some ghost stories!

[What is storytelling? ]
A type of entertainment in which the performer taps the stage with a folding fan and recites stories of heroism and military history in a lively and easy-to-understand manner. It is a traditional storytelling art that is said to have begun in the early Edo period, more than 400 years ago.
[What is Satsuma Biwa? ]
It is a stringed instrument that is characterized by the way it is held upright and played with a large, sharp-angled drumstick that is plucked violently.It is said that during the Sengoku period, Tadayoshi Shimazu of the Satsuma domain improved the Biwa, a blind monk brought from China, to boost the morale of the samurai.

In May 2006, he became a junior performer at the Kodan Association. In March 5, he was promoted to a full-fledged performer in an unusually fast time of 2018 years. In 3, he formed the Kodan Goringer in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. In the same year, he was appointed as the Nakano Ward Tourism Ambassador. In addition to performing nationwide, he has also been involved in a wide range of activities, including narration for NHK's "Bi no Tsubo," "Tensai Terebikun," and "Kodan Taikai," Nippon Television's "Zoom In!! Saturday," "Guru Guru Ninety-Nine Gochi Ni Narimasu!", TBS's "Vivid," and BS Japan's "Saturday Tora-san," as well as a commercial for Meiji Milk Industry, an exclusive host for Los Primos, and an appearance in the stage play "Touken Ranbu." He also runs a storytelling class with 12 students, the largest number of students currently in the country. He is also a lecturer at the NHK Culture Center, a special lecturer at Meiji University, Toyo University, Bunkyo University, and Seisen Women's University, and a visiting professor at Keiai University. In July 2014, he appeared on NHK Radio's special program on the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. He was a torchbearer for the Paralympic Games. Nobuko KawashimaNobuko Kawashima(Satsuma Biwa)

Graduated from the Department of Arts at Toho Gakuen College of Music. Part-time lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. Studied Satsuma biwa under Tsuruta-ryu Iwasa Tsurujo. Spreads the charm of biwa at various events, temples, shrines, art museums, and other venues, and performs every year in places associated with the Heike clan. His activities are diverse, including performing in a two-person biwa unit, as a silent film musician, and with dancers. In addition to performing classical pieces such as the Tale of the Heike, he actively engages in creative activities and releases new pieces every year. He is particularly known for his "narrative voice," which conveys stories with a deep sound and expression, from powerful low tones to crystal clear high tones. He also holds a one-day trial class "Manabiwa" every month, and works hard to promote the biwa industry, holding "biwa yose" events. He passed the NHK Japanese Music Audition and has won many top prizes in the Biwa Music Competition.
