Magome Writers Village was once home to many writers. This year, the Bunka no Mori Cultural Forest will host a variety of events, including plays, talk events, a book fair, and a memorial museum lecture, all with the theme of Magome Writers Village.
The hall will present the works of Hirosuke Hamada, a children's story writer who lived in Ota Ward at the same time and had connections with writers. Before the performance, a demonstration class will be held to help you enjoy the play even more. Adults and children can enjoy it together.
We will be holding a variety of events, including a book fair and talk event, food trucks, memorial museum lectures, and guided tours!

Hirosuke Hamada
Born in Yamagata Prefecture. After graduating from the English Department of Waseda University, he joined Kodomosha. In 1920 (Taisho 9), he left Kodomosha. In 1921 (Taisho 10), his first collection of children's stories, "The Starling's Dream," was published by Shinseisha. In 1923 (Taisho 12), he published "The Black Woodcutter and the White Woodcutter" and "Tears in the Dragon's Eye." He edited "Younen no Tomo" (Young Friend) at Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, but left the company after the Great Kanto Earthquake. From then on, he resolved to devote himself to writing. In 1933 (Showa 8), he wrote "The Crying Red Ogre." In 1955 (Showa 30), he was nominated to be the first chairman of the Japan Children's Writers Association. Ten years later, he became its president.
