Profile

Yoshida Tadashi Memorial Orchestra (Orchestral)

Founded in 2001 by Yoshida Tadashi's wife, Kiyoko, she has since run the orchestra as its representative. It is not classical, nor is it just pop music without vocals; it has pioneered a new frontier with the pop symphonic suite, which has been described as a third kind of music. The performances are centered around the 1940s to 1960s, and boast a wide repertoire of over 500 songs, spanning a wide range of genres including pop music, film music, jazz, musicals, tango, chanson, and Latin music. The concept is to offer the thrill of listening to songs familiar to the ear from records or background music performed live.

Yoshinao Osawa (Conductor)

Born in 1950, he is a senior citizen, but his energetic conducting and talk resonate with audiences of his generation. In 1974, he moved to Australia and became the Principal Conductor of the Melbourne Conservatorium and the Frankston Symphony Orchestra in Victoria. Since 1976, he has expanded his activities to Asian countries, conducting the founding Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, the Taiwan Professional Arts Symphony Orchestra, the Daegu Symphony Orchestra of Korea, and various orchestras in Japan. From 1985 to the present, he has maintained close ties with national symphony orchestras across Turkey, particularly the Izmir Symphony Orchestra, where he continues to serve as Honorary Conductor. In 2001, he was appointed Lifetime Conductor of the Yoshida Tadashi Memorial Orchestra, a position he holds to this day.
