Koji Shiraishi

Koji Shiraishi (clarinet)

Born in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. Graduated from Toyo University. While attending Toyo University, he started playing saxophone in the big band of his club. After graduating, he joined "Tomohiko Sato and Sugar Friends" and "Hisao Sudo and New Downbeats". After that, in 1986, he joined the Tokyo Disneyland Band. While there, he was fascinated by Dixieland jazz and studied under clarinet master Masahiro Goto, and began playing the clarinet in earnest. After that, he joined "Akio Okamoto and the Gaystars", and in 1993, he joined "Kenichi Sonoda and the Dixie Kings". Currently, he participates in sessions such as Dixieland jazz, swing jazz, and studio work, mainly with the Dixie Kings. He also participates in big band jazz as a member of "Hideki Shinozaki and the Sweet Fantasia Orchestra" and "Kenichi Tsunoda Big Band". He also performs at live houses with his own band "Swinging Buddies". He is active in a wide range of fields.
