"Katsuben" refers to the role of a benshi (film narrator) who provides sound to silent films. This performance will feature "Kamata Modern Beginnings," which introduces the history of Kamata, as well as comedies that are sure to have you in stitches, including performances by Chaplin and Saito Torajiro.

Yamazaki vanilla

Vanilla Yamazaki (Benshi)

In 2001, she debuted as a resident benshi (film narrator) at the silent film theater restaurant "Tokyo Kinema Club." She established her own unique style of performance, singing and playing the taishogoto (Japanese zither) and piano with her distinctive voice. Since 2022, she has also incorporated flamenco castanets (palillos). Since 2012, she has held solo performances, "Yamazaki Vanilla's Grand Picture Scroll of Film Narration," at the Kokumin Kyosai coop Hall/Space Zero. Since 2018, she has performed film narration in the youth section of the Tokyo International Film Festival. As a voice actress, she has appeared in numerous works, including the role of Jaiko in the anime "Doraemon." Utilizing her experience studying Spanish at Seisen University, she hosts segments on NHK Radio's "Everyday Spanish - Masato's Madrid Diary" (2021) and NHK E-TV's "Spanish for a Happy Mood" (2024). She is a tourism ambassador for Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture. Her published works include "Benshi, Yamazaki Vanilla."
