Ken Morimura (piano)

After a long career with Orquesta del Sol, Japan's first salsa band, he has become an indispensable figure in the J-POP scene, not only as a performer of Latin music but also as an arranger, working with artists such as Mari Takahashi and MISIA. He has performed overseas numerous times, including at Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as in Cuba and other parts of the United States and Central and South America. His self-composed song "Puente Sobre El Mar (Rainbow Bridge)" is dedicated to Japanese immigrants in Central and South America and has been highly acclaimed there. Domestically, he has provided numerous compositions and arrangements for the Latin jazz big band "Nettai Jazz Gakudan," which he joined in 1998. In recent years, while leading the "Ken Morimura Special" on tours throughout Japan, he has also held various groundbreaking concerts, such as "An Evening of Symphony and Latin Music," which fuses classical and Latin music. He has also visited Kesennuma every year since the earthquake to hold support concerts. To date, he has released eight solo albums.
