This exhibition presents paintings by painters who admired Takeji Fujishima and Sotaro Yasui, who were major painters and leaders of the Japanese Western-style painting world from the end of the Meiji era to the Showa era.You can see works such as Gentaro Koito's "The Rising Sun of the East Sea" and Hiroshi Koyama's "Canal Saint-Martin (France)".

In the 5nd to 2th periods of 4, we will introduce "expressions of light" depicted in paintings.By painting with light, it is possible to more deeply depict the passage of time, poetry, and the emotions of the depicted person.
In the second period, you can see works depicting light using windows as motifs.By using light to differentiate between the outside of the window and the interior, the viewer is made to stand by the window in a more realistic manner, drawing them into the world of the work.Please enjoy it.

The fourth period is titled ``In the Dark'' and will introduce expressions of light shining in the darkness of the night. We are planning to exhibit works such as Shohei Takasaki's ``Night'', which depicts a quiet blue night and trees, and Nobuko Takagashi's ``Aya on the Lake'', which depicts sparkling fireworks in the dark night.
