What is Kumagai Tsuneko Memorial Museum?
Tsuneko Kumagai 1893-1986
The Kumagai Tsuneko Memorial Museum was opened in April 1893 after being renovated from the home where Kumagai Tsuneko (1986-1990), a leading female calligrapher in the Showa period, lived. The museum preserves the atmosphere of the home built in 1936 and allows visitors to view Tsuneko's graceful calligraphy.
Our museum has a collection of approximately 170 pieces by Tsuneko Kumagai. You can enjoy the world of Tsuneko's calligraphy in accordance with the theme of the exhibition.
