I went to the screening and talk event of the movie "In This Corner of the World".This work depicts the daily life of the main character, who marries Kure and manages to make ends meet during the worsening situation of World War II.
After the screening, when I listened to director Sunao Katabuchi and Kazuko Koizumi talk about it, to be honest, war was far from me.On the contrary, even in today's peaceful and blessed life, we tend to become selfish and dissatisfied, forgetting the blessings of everyday life.Even if it's difficult to get your imagination to work on war all of a sudden, I want to find the wisdom to live by enjoying the moment I'm living in now.

I visited the "Katsu Kaishu Memorial Hall" near Senzokuike Pond in the fall, during the first half of the collection exhibition.
A copy of Kaishu's letter to Nariakira Shimazu (handwritten) and the only surviving copy of Takamori Saigo's portrait (the original was destroyed by fire) were exhibited.I was able to learn about the process of duplication and restoration, and the words of the curator were impressive: "The museum's activities are only possible because of the people who support them, such as the craftsmen who restore them."Kaishu has a dynamic image of traveling to the United States on the Kanrin Maru, but it was interesting to see a glimpse of a very diligent side.
*The Ota Ward Katsu Kaishu Memorial Hall will hold a special exhibition next year in 2023 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Katsu Kaishu.

The doorbell rattles open, and when you enter the living room, you will feel nostalgic and heartwarming with the round dining table, the ohitsu with a dishcloth in it, and the small dressing table with a mirror in the corner of the room.In the garden with a persimmon tree, there is a well, a bleached mouth bag, an uneven tub and a washboard. Here you can meet the nostalgic tools of the Showa era in real life. You can immerse yourself in the gentle and happy feeling of living with your deceased parents and grandparents in this house. In the special exhibition "Mr. Yamaguchi's Children's Room Exhibition", I was deeply moved by the overwhelming cuteness of various handmade doll clothes, and I was so fascinated that I wanted to stay in this room forever.

Tatsuko Kawabata began painting large-scale paintings for the general public to appreciate in exhibition halls, advocating 'venue art' for Japanese paintings that were mainly owned by enthusiasts.Yokoyama Taikan's axis and framed Mt.I learned for the first time that Taikan and Ryushi used to have a teacher-student relationship, that they later parted ways due to differences in their artistic views, and that in Taikan's later years they reconciled and held exhibitions together.38 years have passed since the opening in 60LichenIn the year whenEncounterTaikan and Ryuko's "Metempsychosis*” was a glimpse of the exhibition.
*Life-changing: All things are reborn endlessly and continue to change forever.
*The photo is a Taikan memorial work that presents a paradox to Taikan's "Seisei Ruten", and is also a statement of determination to continue to be a rebel.

This is a treasure trove of valuable materials not only for lifestyle culture, but also for architecture, fashion, and movies. The structure of the stairs is completely different between the main building built in 26 and the extension part in Heisei. The treads of the old stairs were so narrow that the heels protruded. If you look closely at the ceiling of the main house, it's plywood! The height of the aesthetic sense can be seen in the fact that the seams are hidden with bamboo. At the special exhibition on the second floor, you can learn how underwear was made by hand when there were few ready-made products. Then movies. It is also a sacred place in "In This Corner of the World".The director and staff collect information here and reflect it in the animation.According to the curator, the depiction of the kitchen is almost the same. Please compare them.

Gallery “Art / Empty House Two” in a renovated private house. I visited "NITO13 Relax your shoulders and put your belly on."
When you open the entrance, you will see works that are in harmony with the white walls. You can enjoy various genres such as paintings, ceramics, and installations. It felt like each artist had a strong individuality and had a dialogue through their work.
Mr. Miki, the owner of the exhibition, says that the title of the exhibition is "determined according to the feeling received from the exhibited works."This year marks the 3rd anniversary of its founding.I felt that it overlapped with Mr. Miki's own feelings.
