Magome Literary Village Festival 2026: Exhibitors Wanted!

A new festival themed around "Magome Literary Village" will be held throughout the entire Ota Cultural Forest!

We are now accepting applications for exhibitors to participate in the event, which will be held in December.

This two-day festival will feature a variety of events, including performances in the hall, exhibitions, a book fair, food trucks, museum lectures, a stamp rally, and more.

Just like the writers who engaged in diverse activities such as writing novels, paintings, poetry, criticism, and even dance, mahjong, and sumo wrestling, I believe that everyone active in their communities today also has their own interests and forms of expression. Genre and method don't matter. Your activities will surely connect with the writers in some way.

Let's make this a lively and fun-filled festival, so please join us in making it a great success!

What is “Magome Writers Village”?

From the late Taisho period to the pre-war Showa period, many writers moved to the Magome, Sanno, and Arai-juku area. They deepened their relationships with each other and engaged in creative activities in this area. Later, this place came to be known as the "Magome Writers' Village."

It wasn't just novelists. Poets, critics, translators, editors, and painters also gathered, forming a community. While pursuing their individual creative activities, they also enjoyed dancing and mahjong, spending lively and laughter-filled time with their friends.

Planning/Production

Living Room Theater (Art Team)

"Ima Theater" is an art team centered around members (Saori Higashi, Miho Inatsugu, Aki Miyatake, and Tomo Yamazaki) with backgrounds in theater and dance. They began their activities in 2013, based at HAGISO, a minimal cultural complex in Yanaka, Tokyo. They create works based on existing "places" and the "behaviors" that exist within them, such as cafes, hotels, ward offices, and waiting rooms. They also engage in collaborative projects with experts from different fields, including musicians, visual artists, architects, fictional mapmakers, and researchers.
By combining performance with real-world situations, they create unique, immersive works of art.
