Profile

Yoshihisa Kihara (conductor)

While enrolled in the piano department of Tokyo University of the Arts High School, he began studying conducting under Seiji Osawa at the age of 16. He graduated from the Graduate School of the University of the Arts Berlin. He has conducted the Deutsches Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Magdeburg Opera Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Musikverein Choir, and others. He won the 25th Goto Memorial Cultural Award for Best Opera Newcomer. In 2022, he will be conducting and choral conductor of the Kanagawa Prefectural Hall's 50th anniversary opera series Vol. 1, ``Einstein on the Beach'' composed by Philip Glass. The performance won the 2023 35th Music Pen Club Music Award in the “Contemporary Music Category”. Currently the permanent conductor of the Tokyo Mixed Chorus.

Shintaka Suzuki (piano)

Born in Sapporo. He graduated from the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. She won first place in the All Japan Student Music Competition and the Japan Music Competition. She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras. She has performed with many performers in the field of chamber music, including recitals and broadcasts. She serves as the official accompanist at music festivals and competitions both domestically and internationally, and has earned high praise and trust. She often appears as a keyboard player in orchestral concerts. She played the piano for Stravinsky's ``Petrushka'' at regular concerts of the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and received favorable reviews. Her activities as an ensemble pianist are wide-ranging, and she has performed with the Tokyo Mixed Chorus many times. After serving as a part-time instructor at Musashino College of Music, she is currently teaching younger students as a part-time instructor at Tokyo University of the Arts and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

Tokyo Mixed Chorus (Chorus)

A professional choir representing Japan, founded in 1956. It was founded by Nobuaki Tanaka, who is currently the conductor laureate, and the current music director is Kazuki Yamada. In addition to 150 performances a year, including regular concerts in Tokyo and Osaka, collaborations with domestic and international orchestras, appearances in operas, music appreciation classes for young people, and overseas performances, he has made numerous recordings and appeared on TV and radio. is performing. The repertoire is wide-ranging, including more than 250 pieces created through the commissioning of compositions that we have carried out since our founding, as well as classical and contemporary works from Japan and abroad. I'm doing it right. He has won the Japan Arts Festival Grand Prize, the Ongaku No Tomosha Award, the Mainichi Arts Award, the Kyoto Music Award, the Recording Academy Award, the Suntory Music Award, and the Kenzo Nakajima Music Award.
